The River Cities Dragon Boat Festival is a 2 day celebration that starts with set up and a kick-off party on June 14th and culminates with a full day of racing. At the Friday evening Kick-Off Party, there will be music, games, team practices and more planned followed by jaw-dropping fireworks. Excitement continues on Saturday, June 15th, as teams compete for the champion title in the seventh annual dragon boat competition. The drummer at the helm of the boat sets the pace as 20-member teams heave in time with paddles propelling the 46-foot-long dragon boats towards the finish line. It’s a lively atmosphere with tailgating, food trucks, children’s activities, the cheering of the crowd, and multiple brightly colored dragon-scaled boats neck and neck in fierce pursuit of the finish line… all for a great cause.
