November 21, 2011 MINUTES
MINUTES—November 7, 2011 Alderman Johnson moved to approve the minutes of the November 7th , 2011 meeting. Alderman Anderson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT Nancy Acre, of 18 Crystal Mountain Drive, thanked the Council for her appointment to the Academics Plus Charter School Board. FINANCIAL STATEMENT REVIEW Alderman Brainerd moved to approve the financials. Alderman Ibbotson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. PROCEDURAL MOTION Alderman Ibbotson moved to have all ordinances and resolutions read by title only. Alderman Hogue seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. ORDINANCE 788 PROHIBITING THE DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS With no objections, Mayor Watson called for the third reading of the ordinance prohibiting the discharge of fireworks. The City Clerk gave the reading. ORDINANCE 792 REDISTRICTING CITY WARDS With no objections, Mayor Watson called for the second reading of the redistricting city wards. The City Clerk gave the reading. RESOLUTION 2011-44 CERTIFYING THE RATES OF TAXATION 2011 With no objections, Mayor Watson called for the reading of the resolution certifying to RESOLUTION 2011-45 AMENDING COMMUNITY CENTER MEMBERSHIP FEES With no objections, Mayor Watson called for the reading of the resolution amending membership fees to the Maumelle community center. The City Clerk gave the reading. Alderman Ladner moved to approve the resolution. Alderman Ibbotson seconded the motion and it passed with Alderman Stell voting no. SPECIAL GUESTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Marion Scott, of 12 Spring Drive, reminded the Council about Hometown Thanksgiving and stated that they still needed volunteers. MAYOR’S COMMENTS Mayor Watson stated that a strategic planning firm was selected and the city is moving into negotiations with the company. Mayor Watson reminded the Council that the next budget workshop would be December 1, 2011. Mayor Watson stated that the Holiday Trail of Lights would begin on November 28th at dark. PLANNING COMMISSION REPORT Alderman Ibbotson stated that the master land use plan and zoning map were amended and the issue would be coming to the Council. ALDERMEN’S COMMENTS Alderman Stell thanked the Fire Department for the quick response to his house. ADJOURNMENT Alderman Stell moved to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Ibbotson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Mayor Watson adjourned the meeting at 6:22 p.m.
