City AttorneyThe City Attorney represents the City of Maumelle. This includes representation of the City Council, the Planning Commission, the Civil Service The office of the City Attorney is also responsible for enforcement and prosecution of city code violations and misdemeanor violations which occur within the city limits. The City Attorney defends or coordinates the defense of claims against the city, including, but not limited to all civil service or civil rights claims and asserts any claims on behalf of the city arising against other parties or entities. The City Attorney may also perform other functions as directed by the Mayor or City Council from time to time. Calls from Maumelle citizens or others concerning the application of law on a particular issue arising in the City and concerning the city are answered quickly and as fully as possible. She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1994 and from the Law School at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1997. She has been a member of the bar since that time. Davis was the first elected City Attorney for the City of Maumelle and took office in July of 2001. She is married to John Davis. They have three daughters, Elizabeth, Emmeline ("Emme"), and Ella. John and JaNan have lived in Maumelle since 1995. They are active members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock. JaNan is also General Counsel for a Little Rock company, Corporate Transit of America, and is of counsel with the law firm of Rainwater, Holt & Sexton in Little Rock where her practice primarily focuses on the area of civil rights defense.
