Library Shuttle Program

On Thursdays a shuttle will run from the MSWC to the Maumelle Public Library and back to the Center. The Library Shuttle will run every Thursday. The 9:00 a.m. shuttle van will pick-up members at their homes, stop at the Center and then continue on to the Maumelle Library. The shuttle van will pick up members at the library at 10:45am. The van will stop back at the Center and then continue with the 11:00 a.m. shuttle run. Please call MSWC at 851-4344 to schedule a 9:00 a.m. pick-up.

Curb side shuttle service rules apply:

Curb-side shuttle service is available to the Wellness Center Monday-Friday at 9:00am, 11 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. Please call the Center a minimum of 30 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up. Please be ready for pickup 5 minutes prior and up to 10 minutes past scheduled time for the shuttle service. Drivers choose their routes based on the safest, most efficient travel pattern for pick up and drop off on the shuttle. Call 851-4344 for shuttle service.

What's New for Seniors

February News

CLUB FITNESS

  • Zumba:  A Latin dance inspired program designed for the active older adult.  It is a FREE one hour class held      Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4pm.  The members are enjoying this class so come and check it out.
  • Gentle Joint Exercises Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10am.  A FREE 30 minute class designed to keep joints limber, and to improve balance.
  • Beginner Tap Class: Every Thursday in February @ 3:00pm  FREE.  Dust off your tap shoes or bring in your favorite soft sole shoes to try out this fun class!  We will start with the basics and add on from there.  Class may extend past February-depending on interest.

YOUR HEALTH MATTERS

  • Care Giver Support Group:  The Support Group will meet Thursday, February 9 th @ 10:00am.  If you care for a loved one you are encouraged to attend.  Led by Judy Wright, Gaytha Hansard, & Nicole Heaps.
  • St. Vincent’s:  Monday, February 13th @ Noon “Staying Prepared for a Disaster” It makes sense for seniors to stay prepared.  Find out how you can be prepared and why.  FREE

LIFE LONG LEARNING

  • Georgia’s Watercolor Classes:  Tuesdays @ 9:00am and 12:30 pm.  Start the new year painting with Georgia.  She is looking forward to having you in her classes. Beginners Class at 9am Cost: $2.00 per class including supplies.       The Intermediate class meets at 12:30pm.   Cost: $3.00 per class including supplies.  Please pay the instructor.
  • Memory Jogging:  Every Wednesday at 10:45am  The group is having a great time recalling past events, playing Carolyn’s word games and other fun brain activities.   FREE
  • SKYPE Class:  Tuesday, February 14th @ 1:00pm You will learn how to download and use SKYPE, how to “call” family and friends via SKYPE and to introduce you to the new equipment in the lab.  FREE   Pre-registration required.
  • SKYPE Class:  Tuesday, February 21st @ 1:00pm  See information above.  FREE   Pre-registration required.
  • Cooking for Two Class with David Hodges:  Monday, February 6th at 3:30pm  FREE  David will be teaching you how to cook Bread Pudding for two.  A sample and a recipe will be provided.  Sign up at the Lakeside Desk.
  • Beginning Quilting: Wednesday, February 8th @ 10am-4-pm  Cost: $5.00  Make a 6 block quilt and learn to piece 6 different blocks.  Sample quilt in Classroom and supply list at the Lakeside Desk.  Beth Helmstetter instructor.
  • Handbag Class:  Monday, February 6th, 13th, & 27th @ 12:30pm  Cost: $12.50 Includes all supplies except thread.  Ms. Jean Eary will be the instructor and will teach you how to make your own handbag.  Pre-registration is required.
  • Facebook Class:  Friday, February 10th @ 10:00am  Learn how to reconnect with friends and family.  FREE           Pre-registration required.  Tawana Fox instructor
  • Computer/Social Media Basics:  Monday, February 13th @12:30pm  FREE  Instructors Tena Dick and Cheryl Wills will be in the lab to assist you with internet, Facebook, email and other social media questions.
