Electronic Recycling Drop off

E-WASTE
Maumelle Public Works, in partnership with the Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District, manage the Electronic Recycling
program also known as E-Waste. E-waste is broken down into its component parts; precious/toxic metals are extracted, and then the
various materials are recycled or disposed of safely.
Residents may dispose of e-waste at no charge at the Pulaski County Electronic Collection Center in Maumelle at 423 Hyman Drive.
It is located inside The City of Maumelle’s Recycling Collection Center & Transfer Station. E-waste is collected on a pallet located outside
by the green Electronics Collection trailer.
E-waste includes televisions, computers, audio/visual equipment, cell phones, answering machines, fax machines, microwave ovens, digital
cameras, electronic space heaters, thermostats, toys, musical greeting cards or any consumer electronic devices.
E-waste is any consumer product which contains a circuit board, mercury thermostat or has an electronic screen larger than 4 inches.
No materials may leave the station once dropped off. All materials go to L & W Environmental which hauls them directly to the federal prison
in Texarkana, Texas for processing and recycling. If possible remove the hard drive, however, if not removed it is guaranteed by the prison
that it will be destroyed. We do impose a limit of 5 computers dropped off per resident. If you have more than that or operate a business
you are encouraged to contact L & W Environmental directly to dispose of your computers at (501) 554-9705.
E-waste content cannot be placed in regular municipal solid waste or recycling bins because their lead, copper, mercury or chromium
components can pollute the environment. They are banned from disposal (garbage) but may be safely disposed through the drop-off and
event programs held at Verizon Arena in the Spring and Fall each year. This State-certified program is operated by Pulaski County
Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District, on behalf of the cities and is held at various locations throughout the county.
The Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District works with Pulaski County jurisdictions in the areas of garbage and yard waste
collection, composting, recycling, tires, and household chemicals. The cities and the County provide their own services, but use a regional
approach to achieve system efficiencies through contract negotiation and administration. The recycling contractor was carefully chosen to
ensure the e-waste is properly handled (no waste is sent overseas). They maintain six centers especially for drop off disposal of household,
residential quantities of computers, printers, televisions, VCRs, cell phones, and microwaves. More Information can be found at
