Street Operations

The Public Works Department maintains 82 miles of city streets, performs construction/rehabilitation work on 28 miles of walking paths and 164 miles of curb and gutter sections, and assists in the maintenance of 8 miles of state highways within the city. Pavement maintenance includes roadway patching, driveway tie-in, and raising manhole covers. This Division is also responsible for sweeping all arterial streets leading onto Maumelle Blvd. and all neighborhood streets with curbs and gutters.

Who do I call if the sidewalks need to be repaired?
Call Public Works Operations @ (501)851-2812, we will have a supervisor to evaluate the situation.

When do they sweep the streets?
The Public Works Department sweeps neighborhood streets on an as- needed basis, Call (501) 851-2812.

How do I get a speed hump installed in my neighborhood?
Call the patrol commander at the police department at 501-851-1337 and request a speed survey. Results are then evaluated by the traffic committee and if a need is found we will install one. Public Works Traffic @ (501) 851-6247, will walk you through the process.

Who do I call if I see paint, oil, chemicals, or debris spilled on the streets?
Call Public Works immediately @ (501) 851-6247, we will dispatch a Supervisor to investigate.

Where do I report a pot hole in the street?
Call Public Works Operations @ (501)851-2812, we will make a work request and have a supervisor dispatch our asphalt crew if necessary.

Storm Water Operations

The Stormwater Operation Division controls the flow of surface water through the maintenance of open ditches and piped drainage, and through the installation of storm drain pipe.

The City's remedial program aims to upgrade the drainage in small select areas where the cumulative impact will have a positive effect on restraining storm water run-off.

Call Public Works @ (501)851-2812, we will dispatch our supervisor. If it’s on Private property it will be the responsibility of the homeowner; if it’s on the streets, City crews will take care of it.

What do I do if I stumble across a catch basin top knocked off?
Call Public Works immediately @ (501) 851-2812, we will dispatch a crew to investigate and replace the top ASAP, this is a public safety issue.

What do I do if I see a storm drain cover missing?
Call Public Works Immediately @ (501) 851-2812we will dispatch a crew to investigate and replace it ASAP, this is a public safety issue.

What do I do if sink hole forming? Call Public Works @ (501)851-2812, we will dispatch our supervisor. If it’s on Private property it will be the responsibility of the homeowner; if it’s on the streets, City crews will take care of it.
